Founder and Owner

Ken is the founder, and has been the owner, of Home Instead Care since 1996. Home Instead Senior Care now provides services in 12 Georgia counties. With a Master’s Degree in Psychology, he knows how important it is for seniors and their families to have a reliable, trusted resource for affordable in-home care. Ken has placed particular attention on becoming a trusted provider of comprehensive non-medical home care for seniors. Throughout his years of service to our community’s seniors, Home Instead Senior Care has received numerous awards such as the Cobb Small Business Award, Best Practices Award, Business to Business, and One to Watch Award.

Janice Sloan

General Manager

Janice came to Home Instead with a well-rounded background, having many years of experience in management, marketing, and customer relations.   For 19 years, she worked with ClubCorp, a company that owns upscale, private city and country clubs.  In 2012, she transitioned into the senior care industry focusing on home care and senior living communities. 
 
As General Manager, she is responsible for the day-to-day management of the business.  Her goal is three-fold:  hire happy, dependable employees who have a heart for helping others;  provide outstanding care to every Home Instead client; and grow the business in a fiscally responsible way. 
 
Janice grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee.  She resides with her husband and two sons in the BridgeMill community of Canton.

Community Service Representative

Anne has been a valuable member of Home Instead Senior Care since 2000. She started as a CAREGiver and has worked in recruitment as well. As a Community Service Representative, Anne informs and educates referral agencies and new relationships about the services Home Instead Senior Care provides. Relationships are very important to Anne, to her it is personal. She understands it is vitally important for senior clients and their family members to have a known and trusted CAREGiver in their home.

Charisse Durham

Charisse Durham

Community Service Representative – Rome, GA Office

Charisse is a Rome, Georgia native who began her career in senior care and advocacy after being a family caregiver for her grandfather. She has been employed with Home Instead Senior Care since May 2013. As a Community Service Representative, Charisse provides one-on-one consults to families by providing information about services, referrals and education on a variety of aging topics.

Laura Dunn

Laurie came to our company in June, 2016. She came to us with 14 years of caregiving experience. Care giving has been her passion since childhood. She has helped with family, worked at Assisted living facility, Home care agency, as well as had private duty clients. She has now taken on a different role in this field by becoming part of our scheduling team. She will listen compassionately to the clients as well as the care givers for their needs

April Baker

April Baker- Recently moved from Elgin, Illinois. She started working in the home care industry in 1999. “I’ve loved it ever since.” “There is something about giving back to our seniors who has given so much to our generation.” She is a Licensed EMT. She’s worked as a dispatch coordinator for a private ambulance company and uses those skills as a scheduler at Home Instead Senior Care. “I wear many hats as you can tell, and I love every minute!”

Kimberly joined the Home Instead Senior Care Team in February 2016, bringing her knowledge and experience in working with seniors in a variety of settings. Her nursing career began at age eighteen, working in public and private nursing homes as a CNA. Kimberly worked with seniors throughout her college years and graduated with honors receiving her BSN from the Oregon Health & Science University located in Portland, Oregon. Upon graduation, she moved to Honolulu, Hawaii and worked in the hospital and clinic setting as a Registered Nurse. Kimberly is married with two adult daughters, is a member of her local DAR Chapter and enjoys playing competitive tennis. Kimberly currently serves as a Patient Care Coordinator providing training for newly hired caregivers and performs client assessments for Home Instead Senior Care

 Jeni Carson

Patient Care Coordinator

Jeni earned a B.S. in Health Promotion and Behavior in 2000 from the University of Georgia. Upon graduation, she began working as a case manager for a State owned company with a mission similar to Home Instead. That’s when she realized the importance of home care for seniors. She married in 2001 and moved to Americus, returned to school and earned a B.S. in Nursing. After working in the hospital setting, public and occupational health, and case management as a nurse, Jeni has returned to the home visits she enjoys. Each of her clients will be treated as she would want her family members treated.

 

Laura Boatner, RN

Patient Care Coordinator

Laura Boatner – A self-employed medical transcriptionist for fifteen years, Laura decided to use her knowledge with a job in caregiving. She graduated top of her class at Kennesaw State University with her BSN in 2002. In 2008, she began caring for her own mother. Because she had such a positive experience using Home Instead services at that time, she was delighted to begin working for us. She draws from that experience as her source of empathy, understanding what a stressful endeavor it is to care for a disabled parent. She has served as a volunteer for Wellstar Hospice, and she’s served the homeless at MUST Ministries in Marietta. She and her husband have two grown children, and they recently welcomed into the world their very first grandchild

Amanda Hayes

Amanda started with Home Instead in 2015 as a caregiver, she brought with her over 3 years’ of compassionate caregiving experience. Within months of starting with our company she was presented the opportunity to work with our scheduling team part time. She has proven to be a valuable part of our scheduling team with her attention to detail. Which lead to her becoming full time with the scheduling team in 2016. She continues to help our company grow with her eagerness to assist our clients with their needs.

Christine Howell

Christine Howell

Christine started as a caregiver with Home Instead in 2015, in a few short months she was invited to a CAREGiver appreciation breakfast where she met the office staff and was recruited for her talents in training and management. Christine brings with her 17 years of Retail and Office management with a Certificate in Medical Coding and she is currently a licensed CNA. Christine’s ability to manage stress while maintaining high standards and keeping an infectious fun spirt makes her a value to our dynamic staff.

Training and Retention Coordinator

Marcia joined the Home Instead team in March 2015 as a Customer Service Coordinator and currently works as the Training and Retention Coordinator. With a Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Administration and Services and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Sociology, her professional experience spans various fields. Marcia has always had a compassion for seniors and has firsthand experience caring for her father who had Alzheimer’s. In 2009, her compassion for seniors directed the transition into the Senior Care Industry where she gained further experience as a Caregiver, Med Technician and Resident Programming Coordinator within assisted living communities. Marcia holds certification in Alzheimer’s Care and Dementia Advanced Care. It is more than just a job to Marcia. She cares.

Mary Wright

Administrative Coordinator

Mary joined the Home Instead Team as a CAREGiver in 2010, and quickly became a dynamic member of our team. Mary’s mother suffers from late stages of dementia, so she knows first hand the impact aging has on family members. Her mother lived with her for seven years while she was also raising her two daughters. When family members call in — she knows both the exhaustion in their voices and their desperation when they do not know what to do next. Her greatest satisfaction comes when she hears what a difference our CAREGivers make not only for the well-being of our senior clients, but also for their family members.

Elizabeth Huff

Recruitment and Retention Coordinator

Elizabeth joined Home Instead in 2017 and has been instrumental in finding qualified candidates. She demonstrates a good understanding of people and has created a strategic recruiting program to reach candidates who genuinely care about servicing our senior community.  She strives to hire the best talent to ensure the needs of our clients are being met as well as providing families with a piece of mind. Add to that an amazing work ethic and excellent customer service skills, she has been a key member for our recruiting team. Before finishing High School, she cared for mentally handicap adults in an assisted living environment. She has personal experience by caring for her grandmother who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. This is where she found her passion in helping those who may not be able to help themselves. We look forward to see the passion flourish, as she continues her journey with Home Instead.
